The day was warm and sunny
The children were ready and excited
All the ladies in town turned out
Even the government agencies showed up
Boys in uniform promoted their cause
The local band was fired up
Farmers everywhere would have been proud
It was Swanville's carnival parade
and the entire town turned out
as they have for over 100 years
and filled the front yards
three blocks long on both sides
It was affirming
richness is alive and well
in small town America
Wonderful set of photos, Grace!
ReplyDeleteI love your photos, and wish I could have attended a parade this year...when my kids were little we went all the time!
ReplyDeleteZaroga - Glad you enjoyed toe pics.
ReplyDeleteDebbie - We nearly never get to parades anymore either but made it a point to visit this one with our grandson (and his mom and dad).
OK just to clarify, that should have been - the pics, not toe pics up above. I don't know where that came from.
